Float Trips

Rent a kayak, paddle board or canoe at any of the area's outfitters or bring your own to embark on a sight-seeing float trip through the gorgeous forests & river bluffs of the Ozark Mountains. We highly recommend floating the North Sylamore Creek from Blanchard Springs to the White River or the Buffalo National River.

Don't forget to bring life jackets, sunscreen, and a picnic!

Boating & Water Sports

You'll be pleasantly surprised by the white sandy beaches and miles of crystal-clear blue waters of Lake Norfork. Bull Shoals Lake won't disappoint you either with its pristine waters, great for swimming, sailing, boating, water skiing, jet skis, and more! Both lakes provide gorgeous views and easy public access points with boat ramps and fishing docks. Fishing and Scuba diving in the lakes are favorite pastimes for many locals and tourists because of the abundance & variety of fish.

Fishing

Rain or shine, anglers from across the country flock to the White River to fish for trout. The river's consistent water temperature throughout the seasons ensures that the fish bite even in winter. No need to worry if you're new to fly or spin fishing; the local fly shops can connect you with experienced fishing guides who have spent decades mastering these waters. These guides provide everything you need for a memorable experience and to learn the art of fishing.

Mountain Biking & Cycling

You'll find miles of mountain biking and cycling trails at various lengths and levels of difficulty cut through the forests near Lake Norfork and near Bull Shoals Lake/White River State Park.

Perhaps the most famous trail in the area is Pigeon Creek Trail System, home of the TLBC Pigeon Roast every spring.

Hiking

Bring your hiking poles, sturdy shoes and plenty of high-energy foods, because once you get started walking the Natural State's hiking trails, you aren’t going to want to stop! You'll encounter wildlife, waterfalls, bluffs, and picturesque views of the Ozark Mountains and the rivers that run through it. Bring your camera!

Cave Exploration

Take a trip back in time as you explore Arkansas's caves. For a guided tour, check out Blanchard Springs Caverns, Mystic Caverns, Hurricane River Cave, and Bull Shoals Caverns. If you want to brave spelunking, you can find smaller caves hidden in the bluffs throughout Arkansas, including along the Big Spring Nature Trail in Cotter.

You'll be delighted by the incredible array of wildlife that roams freely around the resort property and throughout the twin lakes region. It's a unique experience to see these animals in their natural habitat, adding a special touch to your stay. As you explore, please remember to respect the wildlife you encounter. This area is their home, and it's important to observe them without disturbing their natural behaviors.

Bird Watching

Bird watchers are thrilled to observe the migratory patterns of geese, ducks, and even seagulls as they flock to Arkansas' pristine waterways. You can often spot bald eagles up close, especially along the White River, where many nest throughout the year, with an increased population during the winter. Listen for the call of the Great Blue Heron, whose cry resembles what one might imagine a dinosaur sounded like.

The lakes in Arkansas are wonderful anytime time of day, but if you are the type of person who can't miss a sunset, be sure to take the time to drive over to Point Return Park or any public access point on Bull Shoals Lake or Lake Norfork.
